Vanessa + Raymond

A Love Story Unfolds

Wedding Story

How did you meet?

According to Raymond, these two love birds met when they were just teenagers and he was friends with Vanessa’s brother in high school almost 20 years ago. They officially met in July of 2013 at a nightclub through a mutual friend. Vanessa asked him, “Are you going to dance or just stand there?” and the rest is history!
They began to talk on the phone every night. She was a single mother at the time so her guard was up a little. They finally went on a date which led to many more. Vanessa and Raymond have now been together over 9 years.

“Raymond loves my son as his own and we recently had a new son of our own in November of 2021!”

Tell us about the proposal!

The proposal was very intimate. Raymond even got her son to be apart of it.
It was on Christmas Eve because he knew how much Vanessa loves Christmas. He took her son ring shopping and they chose the diamond together. On Christmas Eve he set up a scavenger hunt around the house, each clue had a note that led to something we had done together each year they had been together. The final clue was in the Christmas tree where her son was crying as he was recording

“It was such a sweet moment I will never forget.”

What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day?

Originally, the bride wanted a Christmas/winter wonderland theme because of her love of Christmas. The couple ended up getting pregnant, so they rescheduled for the following spring. She still wanted the holiday burgundy and white colors everywhere which they stuck with and kept it a romantic theme.

Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did?

“We chose Kendall Point as our venue because of the unlimited options you could do with the space! It was A beautiful location that also included the ceremony space, it was away from all the traffic and city life. It came with everything we needed as far as space, tables, chairs, etc.
Our caterers, Spice of Life Catering, had so many different types of food to choose from. We ended up having a main chicken meal with cilantro rice, a pasta station, a taco station, a churro station, two different types of salads and passed hors d’oeuvres which included crab cakes, shrimp and grits, and tomato soup with grilled cheese. They were able to even provide a tart for my brother-in-law’s birthday who flew in from France.
PowerSounds Dj was a referral from 2 friends who also had them at their wedding. They are a family owned business and really great to work with. They provided us with a cloud machine for our first dance, as well as are mono Graham and up lighting as well as a Ceremony music.
We chose to work with Susan Obregon with Timeless moments by design, who saved our day! She stayed with us the entire two years as we had to change our date. She was there every step of the way. The day of the wedding she executed everything so perfectly and I did not stress out about a thing she even provided all of the floral for the wedding which was amazing!”

What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding?

Some of the more unique elements of their wedding they thought was a henna artist, a 360 photo booth and after dinner the bride changed into a second dress. They also had a late night taco station and prizes for the guests who caught the bouquet/boutonniere.

“My father-in-law passed away a year before our wedding so we had a seat with his frame picture on it and a white rose that was really special to my husband and I.”

What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding?

“San Antonio has a lot of hidden gems for your wedding. Do your research, go to the many wedding shows San Antonio has to offer, and take your guests into consideration when choosing an outdoor location here during the hotter months. The locations for photos are unlimited here and you’ll have so much fun with authentic vendor options that you wont find any where else!!”
