Sweethearts

Say I Do

Macki & Matt

San Antonio wedding at park 31

How They Met

Macki & Matt are true high school sweethearts that met at 16 when they were sophomores. The more mutual friends brought them together, the more they began to realize they enjoyed spending time together. While Macki was really not trying to have a serious relationship at the time, Matt insister that the two of them go on a date. From there… they never looked back. They both went on to attend and graduate from Texas A&M and have even entered in home ownership together.

The Proposal

This was a complete surprise to Macki. Everyone was counting down the moments entering into the new year, and as everyone celebrated the turn of the year, Mack turned around to find Matt standing with a huge sign saying “Marry me?”. The handmade signs caught her completely off guard, but of course Macki said yes!

The Inspiration

Macki and Matt both wanted a moody winter wedding with an edge. With dramatic sleeves and dark accent colors, they were able to pull it all off with Burgundy bridesmaid dresses and florals all finished with a gold accent.

Unique Elements

“My personal favorite was mine and matts first touch. The entire day I was nervous but when we did our first touch the nerves went away. We were placed back to back so we could not see each other, then exchanged our personal vows as well as prayed together. I was also fortunate enough to be able to grow up with my great-grandma otherwise known as Oma. Oma passed away my sophomore year in high school. At our wedding, I wore her fur shawl and used her handkerchief around my bouquet. Although she was missed deeply, I know that she was there in spirit.”

“First and foremost, do not let the “wedding stress” get to you. At the end of the day, you will be married to your best friend and that is all that matters! Do not forget that everyone attending your wedding is there to celebrate you and your husband/wife. Also, with the world the way that it is right now I cannot stress enough to use your local vendors and shop small! Show your local support, because I promise they will appreciate it and go above and beyond for you.”- Macki & Matt
