High School Sweethearts
Say "I Do"
15-years-old to Forever
How They Met
Desiree and Joshua have been together since they were 15 years old. They attended East Central High School in San Antonio, TX. They were completely head over heels for each other and knew they were inseparable from the beginning.
Now more than 11 years together, they are completely in love and ready to start a new chapter in life with marriage.
Throughout their years together since they have graduated high school, they have attended college together at Texas A&M Corpus Christi to pursue and graduate with a Bachelor’s in Nursing, and most recently graduated with a Master’s in Family Nurse Practitioner’s degree.
The couple is continually setting goals and pushing each other to be our very best.
“Josh is my person, my best friend, my confidant, my forever soul mate, and my home,” Desiree said. “Completely in love with my high school sweetheart.”
The couple decided to take a spontaneous trip to Rome, Italy in December of 2018. At the time, they loved to travel and just go for it.
“I honestly just thought it’s another one of our trips for precious memories,” Desiree said. “Little did I know my high school sweetheart was planning to propose to me in front of the Colosseum.”
Joshua planned the whole proposal and on December 15th, 2018 he got down on one knee and asked Desiree to marry him.
“He planned every detail beautifully and had a professional photographer disguised as a tourist at the time capturing every moment,” she said. “It was beyond perfect!”
The Theme of the Wedding
“I wanted the theme to feel like a complete fairytale,” she said. “I had waited for this day for so long to celebrate such a special moment with my high school sweetheart. Truly, I wanted to feel like a Princess.”
The couple knew they wanted the wedding to be in downtown San Antonio.
“I completely embrace our culture that we have and all our family lives in the city,” she said.
They chose San Fernando for the ceremony as it was sacred to be able to celebrate their love in front of God, family, and friends.
“I chose a trumpet white lace dress with a beautiful train and Cathedral veil,” she said. “My colors were of champagne, white, dusky greens, golds, and blushes. I added sparkle to about anything I could. I wanted the feel of complete elegance on our day.”
The ceremony at San Fernando Cathedral was what Desiree had always dreamed of as a little girl.
Searching for our venue space in downtown San Antonio was not easy. They looked at many venues before they found a hidden gem along the riverwalk called Jack Guenther Pavilion.
“We loved the modern feel it had and of course being in the heart of San Antonio it was perfect,” Desiree said.
The couple made it their theme by adding in decor, chandelier lighting, white dance floors, large white and blush floral arrangements.
“The space was perfect for the amount of guests we invited with the choice of an indoor and outside area as well as large glass windows looking over the riverwalk of San Antonio,” she said. “We loved our locations!”
Adam Swift, the photographer, became the couple’s friend throughout the process.
“He is so diligent and takes pride in his work,” she said. “We fell in love with his photos from the moment he did our engagement photos downtown San Antonio we had even asked if he would do our Graduation photos from UT Health with our Nurse Practitioner degrees. Adam goes above and beyond for his clients! Although our wedding was just 4 days ago, Adam made sure we had a photo to post of our kiss at the altar before leaving on our honeymoon.”
The couple believes they could have never done anything without the wedding planner, Diana Boucher.
“Her support and guidance she’s the absolute best,” Desiree said.
As for their design, DPC Event Series brought their vision to life.
“They heard my vision and it came true,” she said.
Evember Floral, Anne Marie’s Caterings, and Snap Chic Wedding Planning helped with making the rest of the wedding a night to remember.
“Angie from Evember Floral gave me the most elegant bouquet of my dreams, and you can tell she puts detail in her work as a florist,” she said. “Anne Marie’s Catering was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. Snap Chic Wedding Painting, I was in complete awe when I saw her paint it was beautiful to see it come to life. Advice for Couples
“Stay true to yourself and find the best design for you,” the couple said. “The moment you capture your theme and what you want the vision will come to life beautifully. The best ideas come with journaling, jotting down ideas, and finding things you love through Pinterest. Just remember at the end of the day it’s the celebration of you and your partner in front of your family and friends. It will all come together, take a deep breath I promise. Remember to stay true to yourself and your vision!”
