Violette and Jesus
For Violette and Jesus, the best place to meet the love of your life is on a golf course. The two met while working at different golf courses on the Alamo city golf trail. Jesus managed the Riverside course and enjoyed golfing at various courses throughout the city. The two met shortly after Violette began working at the San Pedro Driving Range. Violette’s mother knew that Jesus was in love with her daughter even before the two began dating, as he was always at the driving range with Violette.
A year after sparking their romance, Jesus proposed to Violette on a trip to Walt Disney World. Just before the two set off to visit Violette’s favorite theme park, Epcot, Jesus asked her to marry him. The two began the planning process for a Spring 2020 wedding. Unfortunately, neither knew a pandemic would change their plans.
Even though the couple realized that their wedding would not go as planned, they never considered the possibility of canceling their union. They would not push the wedding back. They were prepared to elope if they had to. In the wake of the COVID-19 case increase, they settled on a summer date in July. That’s how their dream backyard wedding came to be.
Their best friends, with a whimsical backyard, agreed to host the wedding. A fish pond and colorful garden would make for the perfect intimate setting. The couple hired Tabla to provide their guests with individual charcuterie cups to ensure everyone’s safety. To set the mood, musicians from Beto’s, a local restaurant. Of all the vendors who helped make the evening memorable, it was Violette’s mother, a San Antonio Judge, who tied the entire day together as she officiated the wedding.
Having her mother officiate the wedding wasn’t the only unique element of the wedding. Jesus and Violette’s vows were spoken to each other in two languages, hers in Spanish and his in English. Additionally, Violette’s bouquet was adorned with a charm with her brother’s picture on it. While she lost him in a tragic accident four years before the wedding, she knew her brother would have wanted to walk down the aisle with her. This way, he did.
To the couple’s surprise, a parade of family and friends drove past the house to celebrate with the couple following their ceremony. Violette admits that although nothing went according to plan, she wouldn’t have it any other way. This celebration is one of many to come. She expects to celebrate her marriage for the rest of her life.
