If you are here, you probably already know I exist. But, do you know who I am?

My name is Erika Perez. I was born and raised in El Paso, TX, and I have lived in San Antonio since 2016 when I moved out here to attend UTSA. I graduated with an English degree in 2018, and I became a high school English teacher shortly after. Needless to say, I don’t teach anymore. I googled “questions to get to know someone” and here are 5 Q&As about me.

1. Who is your hero?

Too easy, my mom. Next!

Just kidding, but yes, my mom. I grew up in a place where I didn’t always have everything I wanted, but I had everything I needed. And, with a mom like mine, I never felt unloved. Having the bravery to love someone unconditionally, and work tirelessly to provide for them, makes my mom my hero.

2. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

El Paso, TX. I love visiting places, but my roots run deep. If you truly know me, you know I love the place that made me, but I love pursuing my dreams more. If my dreams aligned with my hometown, I’d live there.

3. What is your biggest fear?

Simply put, roaches & moths.
The complex answer, loss. I don’t like losing at anything or anyone.

4. What is your favorite family vacation?

TAKS throwback! I was a child, and my family visited San Antonio, TX (shocker). I’ve never laughed more in my life. One cousin farted the entire way, and the other complained through humorous expression. Best family vacay, ever.

5. What would you change about yourself if you could?

I would change my temper. I feel joy about life on most days, but when I get angry, I overdo it. If you relate, I’d love to hear from you.
