Ashley + Mason
How They Met
Ashley and Mason were both involved in FFA during high school, so they would often run into each other at FFA events and competitions. The two continued to run into each other online and in person at Cowboys Dancehall. After talking on and off for a little while on Twitter, the couple went on their official first date and things started to get more serious.
The Proposal
Christmas is Ashley’s favorite time of year, so it was no surprise when Mason decided to propose while looking at Christmas lights at Don Strange Ranch. It was beautiful and private and everything the couple could ever ask for!
Wedding Inspiration + Theme
The engagement took place in 2020, so Ashley had about two years to plan her fairytale day. A lot of things were changing in the world during these times and it was a lot to keep up with. Instead of following trends, Ashley wanted to do something that was personal to her and Mason. Blue is both of their favorite colors, velvet and candlelight added to the winter wonderland ambience, and they also DIY’d a lot of their signage.
Unique Elements
Ashley and Mason used to love dancing at the Tejas Rodeo, so it was incredibly special to be able to get married at their wedding venue. They hosted the ultimate Texas Wedding with Bill Miller catering and late night snacks from What-a-burger that were a hit with all their guests!
The couple decided to do a private exchange of their personal vows, and they were so glad they did. It gave them time to get grounded as a couple and shake off a lot of the nerves that they both were feeling.
Their getaway car was Mason’s late grandfathers vintage truck, and it was an honor to be able to incorporate it into their big day!
Advice for Couples
“If I could give one word of advice to a bride for their planning, I would say to hire the day-of-coordinator. I literally could not imagine creating an itinerary and being able to stick to it throughout the night without our day-of-coordinator Krista. The whole night flew by so fast, and I know I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. As far as personal advice, I would also say that it’s okay to not keep up with the trends, it’s okay that vendor doesn’t fit in your budget, and it’s okay to not please everyone. It is your day and it’s okay to be selfish. I often found myself comparing my wedding to others and wanting to change things last minute because I saw a new TikTok or saw a new wedding post that was trendy. I was wondering how girls were affording to go out of state or out of country for their bachelorette party, when I felt like it was a struggle to even stay in budget for the actual wedding. Which is absolutely great if you can do that, but you can have just as much fun at your local bachelorette party too! It is true that comparison is the thief of joy, so always stick to what feels right for you and your future spouse. Remember that you are having a wedding to get married to the love of your life, you are not getting married just to have a wedding. Your day will be perfectly unique to you and your future spouse. Do not lose sight of what is important to y’all.”- Ashley
