Sharing Memories

Bringing Life Back to Static Photos

The road to marriage is paved with hundreds of happy moments, many of which stay stored in a photo app on your phone or computer. But what if this virtual map that led to your big day could be shared in a way that lets everyone at your wedding experience all the events, occasions, and everyday memories that make your love story unique? That’s what Mapping TX (formerly Cake Mapping TX) creates, using a variety of design options to create a one-of-a-kind focal point that is more than just a digital presentation; it’s a work of art. Although multi-tiered, styrofoam cakes featuring digital imagery initially put this company on the map, Mapping TX has evolved to include projection and digital mapping that allows you to design and display multiple images in various ways to complement any wedding style.

“We bring life back to what has traditionally been static photos,” explained Julie Rader, who, along with her fiancé Future Sounds DJ Service owner Chris Koval, founded Mapping TX in 2021. “We tell a story in a way that is fun and engaging.”

A Display That Takes the Cake

While their original work definitely “takes the cake,” it is important to note that Mapping TX is not a bakery or a professional photography service. It is a digital mapping company that takes images provided by the client and presents them in an ultra-modern way that goes beyond framed photos of the happy couple or printed menus.

“It’s something very unique and personalized that not many people have seen,” explained Rader, adding that clients describe the displays as “mesmerizing” and “Immersive.”  “It’s very artsy and upscale versus the traditional PowerPoint slide,” she said.

Rader, who has a background in fashion, applies her eye for design to each display, while fiancé Koval handles the technical aspects. “Mapping was just another layer to digital signage,” said Koval, who has a digital communications background. “It was very intuitive for me.”

Together, they have grown and expanded the company’s offerings every year since its inception. Today, they can create not only the “wow” factor cakes that Rader said serve as the modern version of an ice sculpture or elaborate centerpiece but also multiple high-quality canvas and digital monitor displays in an array of sizes and configurations.

Mapping TX doesn’t use Photoshop or AI or alter any provided photos. Instead, they apply their expertise to scaling the images and creating a customized, uniform presentation, whether it’s across singular or multiple digital screens or canvases. From a single bridal portrait to a giant wall-covering screen of multiple images, the sky’s the limit.

The Bigger Picture

Photos and videos of the happy couple are not the only things clients hire Mapping TX to create for their special day. Welcome signs, seating charts, menus, and other pertinent information can be displayed in a digitally artful way while providing an eco-friendly alternative to the traditional paper printing method. Plus, the displays add something “special” to any event and give guests something to talk about long after the last screen goes dark.

“They serve as a focal point or conversation piece,” said Rader, adding that the duo will unveil even more options for digital mapping displays in the near future. “We are always looking for ways to tweak our services and create something that is truly outside the box.”
