Camela and Neelam
How Did You Meet?
Camela and Neelams love story started in 2019 when they got brunch at a cute little café. They met on the Hinge app and even though this was their first date, there was heavy flirting and intense eye contact! However, the one thing they have always felt for each other from that day was one thing and one thing only… each others peace.
Tell us About the Proposal?
On March 11th 2020, Camela popped the question through a beautiful video message made by one of their favorite singers Mary Lambert. Who wouldn’t say yes to that?!?! Neelam was fighting back her tears and said yes! Their FOREVER began
What Inspired the Theme of Your Wedding Day?
Camela & Neelam wanted to have a wedding that represented both of their cultural heritage. Their wedding brought together the wedding traditions of two countries (India and the USA) and two religions (Jewish and Hindu). So the ceremony, the décor, and music all had a fusion feel or look to them for example our wedding colors were blue (Jewish color) and gold (a dominant color in Indian weddings). The music was also country, pop mixed with Bollywood dance numbers.
If I have to choose one word to describe the theme of our wedding it will be “inclusive”. Camela and I come from worlds that look very different on the surface but if you delve inside our cultures and traditions – they are in fact not all that different and that’s what we wanted to convey through our wedding. We wanted a wedding where everyone feels welcome, included, and possibly represented and I hope we were able to achieve that.”
What Were Some Of The Most Unique Elements of Your Wedding?
“We had a Hindu-Jewish- Indian-American-lesbian wedding in a small town in Texas. All of it was unique !!”
