Raquel and Christian

How They Met
Raquel and Christian met through mutual friends and somehow always found each other at the same events. Several years later, they discovered that there was an undeniable connection between the two of them.
The Proposal
Christian popped the big question on Raquel’s birthday back in 2019! He surprised her by decorating the entire house with candles and roses. It was an intimate proposal between just the two of them.

The Inspiration
The venue, a hacienda built in the 1700s in the middle of the jungle, served as the main inspiration for Raquel & Christian’s big day! Hacienda Uayamon preserves the beauty of its past and the rich Mayan culture – combining history with a modern, luxurious feel and natural ruins. The chapel (or what is left of it) was the main reason the two chose Hacienda Uayamon!
Unique Elements
“We both knew that we wanted to have a destination wedding at the beginning of our engagement. We wanted our wedding to be an experience or a mini-vacation for all our guests. However, due to the pandemic, we didn’t think this would be a possibility. Despite overcoming various obstacles, we were able to have our dream wedding in a very unique location, surrounded by our closest friends and family members. It was a celebration of our new partnered life as well as a celebration of life for everyone in attendance. 2020 was a year everyone had to endure lockdowns due to COVID. Our wedding was a reminder to many that despite unusual or extraordinary circumstances, light and love can still prevail.” – Raquel Cruz

Vendors
“All of our vendors exceed our expectations. Since our wedding was a destination wedding, we didn’t really have any background knowledge of any particular vendor, so we relied on our wedding planner. Our wedding planner has been in the event planning business for years and is one of the most sought-after wedding planners in Mexico. She facilitated all of our vendor contracts and to be honest, they all went above and beyond to make our day special.” – Raquel Cruz
