Philip & Bequi
Tell us about the proposal
Philip planned the proposal. He asked for Bequi’s mom’s blessing and let his family know his plans too. The weekend of the proposal they had a weekend trip to Austin planned. They stayed at the Hotel ZaZa, enjoyed multiple planned activities and on the last day went to their favorite spot at Red Bud Isle. Philip took photos of the Isle before turning his attention to taking pictures of Bequi. While focusing on her, he told her about his love for her and his plans to be by her side the rest of their life.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day?
The wedding day was slightly inspired by wedding décor found in Twilight such as using wisteria and twinkling lights. The cake was also inspired similarly because Bequi wanted to create a whimsical night.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did?
To start with the venue, Bequi had the perfect spot in mind. Bequi’s friends own Arborhouse Suites and the Courtyard at Arborhouse. She attended parties there previously and loved the tropical feel of the location. She knew it would work perfectly with her vision – and it exceeded all expectations.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding?
There is no doubt Philipe and Bequi’s wedding was a magical event that transported their guests out of San Antonio. The church was small and gave the feel of stepping into old Spanish times. The location and the décor emphasized the new world while a fire dancer and guitarist at cocktail hour created the experience. They also recreated a Callejoneada with professional model poodles Coco Chanel and El Rey. Piñatas that looked like the couple hung down. The night evolved as even more musicians appeared such as Mariachis and an amazing band (Leslie Lugo Band). The couple also had glow in the dark wear for the guests, cold sparklers to accompany their first dance and Ballet FOLKLORICO Sol de San Antonio with their faces painted for Día de los Muertos dancing for the guests towards the end of the night. And to top off the night, midnight tacos for everyone!
