How They Met

The couple met in 2019 the way any millennial couple meets these days – on a dating app.

The Proposal

Todd proposed on November 21, 2020, after convincing Brittney he had planned a last-minute staycation that weekend at the Omni Fort Worth.

The only thing that almost blew his cover was the bellman who just wouldn’t leave the room after dropping off the luggage. But he did finally, and Brittney was completely surprised to find a bottle of champagne on ice, sweet note, and Todd down on one knee when she turned around. They celebrated with dinner at Reata in downtown Fort Worth and drinks afterward with Brittney’s sister and some of Todd’s best friends.

The Wedding Theme

The couple lives in Fort Worth but loved the idea of a “Texas destination wedding,” and the Hill Country is our favorite part of Texas, so they decided there was no better place for our big day.

They thought the setting would be perfect for our friends and family visiting from out of state and a great weekend getaway for our many family members and friends right here in Texas.

Brittney’s dad’s family is Scottish, and one of his cousins gifted them a bagpiper to play at their wedding!

“He played as we exited the chapel and helped lead our guests down to the cocktail hour,” she said. “Our friends loved the surprise! We also surprised everyone with beer donkeys at cocktail hour! Ears with Beers served our guests and were the perfect photo opportunity for everyone, including the wedding party.”

Todd’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at La Fogata on the patio. The guests enjoyed the delicious food, fun setting, and mariachi music! It was extra special for the bride as La Fogata is one of her family’s favorite restaurants, and her parents have been going there since before the bride was born.

The bride also had some of her grandmother’s lace stitched into the petticoat of her dress.

The Vendor & Vendors

The couple visited several venues in the Austin and San Antonio area before they made a decision. They were absolutely blown away by the natural beauty of Lost Mission, its gorgeous chapel, and the reception venue right on site.

“Olivia at Lost Mission was so helpful, and we took many of her suggestions on additional vendors in the area,” Brittney said.

The couple was blown away by their vendors.

“Jennifer Craft, our planner, and florist was basically our fairy godmother,” she said. “She made sure every detail was taken care of and that the day was flawless. All we had to do was show up and enjoy the magical day! Olivia Foster at Lost Mission was also hugely helpful, starting the moment we walked in the door to tour last January until the night of our wedding. She and her team made coordinating with the venue, selecting our menu, and serving our guests such a breeze. Brandon Olivarez of Platinum DJ was fabulous and kept all of our guests dancing. He was so fun to work with!”

Advice for Couples

“Prioritize what the most important elements of the day are to you and your fiance – for us we wanted to make sure that all of our guests had a fun evening, and we accomplished that through the incredible venue, great service, special surprises, and excellent music,” Brittney said. “Plus great vendors! The San Antonio area is such a beautiful area, and it makes having a wedding (and a Mexican fiesta rehearsal dinner) there the best!”
