How They Met

Kelsey and Pedro first met while working EMS together. While they had only shared a few shifts together, they recognize that they worked pretty well as a team. At the time, Kelsey was dating someone else so their relationship was strictly a professional one. After one stressful call, the two went to grab a bite together and realized how comfortable they felt “pal-ing” around. As soon as Pedro heard news that Kelsey was single, he took the opportunity to invite Kelsey to join him on a river floating adventure. While they had invited other people to join, God had other plans that shifted this trip into what they now refer to as their “first date”.

The Proposal

The proposal was perfect and Kelsey was completely surprised. It was intimate, with their immediate family all present. There was no time for pictures or a big video, but it was still a moment the couple will cherish forever. With the family all sitting at dinner together, Pedro suddenly stood up and said, “Well this is it…”, as he got on one knee, took a deep breath, and pulled out the ring saying, “Kelsey, will you be my wife and spend the rest of our lives together?”

With everyone there in tears, Kelsey said yes and… of course, the rest is history.

Wedding Inspiration

Kelsey has always loved bright colors and has always said that if Tie-Dye was a color, that would be her favorite one. While still wanting to keep it elegant and classy, the couple found ways to incorporate things like serape into places and looks to help highlight their bright personalities. Even though Kelsey loves all the colors, she still decided to go with pink as her main accent color. All her bridesmaids wore pink and her and her sister found fun ways to sprinkle it with gold accents throughout the wedding design.

The Venue

The venue was one of the first venues that they looked at, and Kelsey was in love with the set up. They didn’t want a western themed wedding, but they loved how elegant and classy Western Sky Events was. The white chapel and large wooden bar made for the perfect setting for this couples wedding.

Unique Elements

The serape theme was everywhere- from the groomsmen’s bowties and suspenders to the bridesmaid’s “getting ready” robes.

The couple organized a choreographed first dance that was a  surprise for everyone but the two of them.

Pedro surprised Kelsey with a “strip tease” during the garter removal that was such a surprise to Kelsey, but she loved it!

His and Hers cocktails were named after and inspired by their fur babies, and instead of a grooms cake, they had cookies with their fur babies faces on them!

“My advice to couples planning a San Antonio wedding is to enjoy yourself with your significant other, and not to stress. Planning a COVID Wedding was different in so many ways, but everything happens for a reason. God has a special plan for everyone, so enjoy the planning and details with your family and significant other because no matter what happens, it will be the night your dreams come true.” -Kelsey and Pedro Macias
