Kayla & Charlie
How They Met
Fate brought these two together when Charlie came home to San Antonio for Thanksgiving break and hopped on Tinder, unknowingly swiping right on his future bride. With Charlie living in Arkansas, the couple decided to stay just friends, although Kayla says she always knew they would end up together! When Charlie moved back home, the two slowly became more than friends, before making their relationship official!
The Proposal
Planning the proposal was harder than expected, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the whole city being on lockdown. As luck would have it, the city began slowly reopening and Kayla wanted to go out to eat and feel normal again. This played right into Charlie’s hands as he knew this was the moment. Kayla walked into the Eilan Hotel, expecting to eat at Piatti’s, but almost immediately recognized the photographers and knew right then, the moment she had been dreaming of was about to happen. Soon after the proposal, the families of both Kayla and Charlie came rushing out to celebrate the happy couple. It was the perfect proposal!
The Inspiration
Kayla has always loved the look and feel of Bohemian weddings, specifically the pampas grass, natural materials, and colorful accents. On her first day working at Bella Bridesmaids, a bridesmaids boutique here in San Antonio, she spotted these gorgeous rust-colored velvet dresses and fell in love with them! She decided to plan her whole color scheme and wedding décor around them! Of course, as she planned the wedding her style did change a little bit, but the main concept stayed the same!
Unique Elements
The Korns’ had many unique elements at their wedding. A very special touch for them was having their aunt provide the flowers! She created the most beautiful arrangements and had the guests talking about the florals all night! They also had Charlie’s brother, Matt, officiate the wedding. This was very special to the couple and they would not have wanted anyone else standing up there with them on their big day.
Kayla had a fun inside joke with her mom about the pampas grass that is seen all over the wedding. You see, Kayla had her mindset on having pampas grass at her wedding, but when she figured out how expensive it was, she decided she could not afford it. A few months later, she realized there were compass grass bushes in her mom’s neighborhood and there may or may not have been a few midnight runs to grab some plums. Her mom also somehow got her hands on 50 stems from her neighbor and even made some high pitstops to collect more pampas. Kayla and her mom had guests laughing about the background of the pampas all night!
