Meant to Be

Kaiti and Mark

How They Met
They met in 2010 while both attending Texas Tech. Over the next few years, they had become friends…sharing a common love of Tech basketball and Patrick Mahomes!
After graduating, their careers took them in separate directions. In 2017, Kaiti got a job in San Antonio, where Mark had already been working for a few years. Mark asked Kaiti to dinner, and the rest -as they say – is history.

The Proposal
Mark spent months carefully planning the perfect proposal with the help of Kaiti’s family and friends. In fact, it was on his birthday!
Kaiti thought they were going to dinner with some friends at The Pearl. When they arrived, Mark led her to the Pearl Amphitheatre where he got down on one knee and popped the question. After a very surprised, “Yes,” cheers erupted from the amphitheater seating. It was all of the couple’s family and friends. Some had travelled from across the country to be there.
Everyone celebrated with a great dinner at Paloma Blanca that evening.

The Details
Theme Inspo:
In a word: classic! The bride and groom wanted a black and white color palette, with just a touch of sparkle and shine. Since champagne is the bride’s favorite drink, the accent color was champagne gold – complete with a champagne wall that was a huge hit!
The Venue:
They chose the Betty Kelso Center at the San Antonio Botanical Garden because it’s just such a versatile space. The outdoor lawn area for the ceremony is just steps away from the indoor space where you can have a beautiful reception. On top of that, the Garden is just so beautiful. The greenery and the plants there would make a beautiful backdrop for any wedding! Bonus: it’s in such a convenient location. The couples’ guests found it very easy to get there from the Holiday Inn San Antonio-Riverwalk Downtown.

Words of Advice
“Have fun! It can be so stressful, but it’s also one of the most exciting times of your life. So, take a little time now and then to step back and enjoy the ride. Don’t forget to take some time on your wedding day to look around at the venue and decor. As the bride, it made me so happy to step away for a few minutes at the reception to really look around and take in all the things we had spent months planning: the decor, the cake, the Memorial table for our loved ones. Those were all very special things to us, and I’m glad I was able to take a few moments with my new husband to really take it all in.” – Kaiti Chapin
