Melissa and Matthew

How They Met
After being invited to a UTSA tailgate by Matthew’s older brother, Melissa was feeling goooood! When she was introduced to Matthew, Melissa pulled his sunglasses down and told him how cute he was – all with the help of some liquid courage! They later followed one another on Instagram and the rest was history.

The Proposal
On their one-year anniversary, Matthew wanted to treat Melissa to a nice dinner. Since their anniversary fell during the pandemic, Melissa was so excited to get dressed up and celebrate! While she was getting ready, she noticed Matthew was a bit fidgety – going in and out of the room, red and sweaty – but she didn’t think much of it. As they begin to walk downstairs, Melissa noticed his cousin, Ashley, at the front window as if she was going to take a photo. Finally, the two open the front door and see their families holding signs that read “Will you marry me?” He then proposed and she said YES!

“[My ring is an] oval cut ring with gorgeous diamonds around the large center diamond and diamonds around the band!” – Melissa Sanchez-Ochoa
Bridal Gown Shop: Olivia Grace Bridal
“Definitely had a BLAST TRYING ON SOOOOO MANY DRESSES! I went to as many bridal stores as I could. I do wish I had the experience of having my bridal party with me but with COVID, I was only allowed 1 or 2 at a time. During a long break I had at work, I decided to drive over to Olivia Grace – it’s such a cute bridal store. I had a wonderful experience with Grace, the sales rep. Everyone was so nice, and customer service was on point! Once I put the dress on, I knew my mom and sister would love it just as much as I did. I didn’t cry but was so excited to have found my dress!”- Melissa Sanchez-Ochoa
Reception Venue: Private residence in Helotes, TX
“We decided to go with my in-laws’ backyard. They have a gorgeous 2 acres in the back with tons of beautiful trees and a view on top of the hill.
