How They Met

Xavier and Gabriela met in high school in Crystal City, Texas.

They are high school sweethearts and went on to graduate college from UTSA together. Now, they are married on our 10th anniversary.

The Proposal

Xavier proposed at The Pearl in front of the fountains.

“I was completely in shock and when I turned around I saw both of our families,” Gabriela said. “He made sure both families would not miss this important moment in our lives. What touched me the most was having my grandmother there a few months after my grandfather had passed. It was a very emotional yet exciting day.”

Designing the Wedding

The couple’s original wedding date was in November 2020. However, coronavirus pushed the wedding into 2021.

“I originally planned for a fall wedding, but I scrapped the previous wedding plans and started fresh after the postponement,” she said. “I wanted the new wedding plans to be a breath of fresh air. I chose blush pink and emerald green for a timeless classic look. Elegance and romance was my main inspiration for the wedding day.”

The couple toured Hidden Falls first when we they first got engaged and absolutely fell in love with the venue.

“The waterfall at Remi’s Ridge and beautiful greenery aligned with the vision I had for our wedding day,” she said. “I did so much research on The Knot and Wedding Wire to find the perfect wedding vendor team. I am very happy with each vendor we chose, they were all great!”

Unique Elements

“Remi’s Ridge has beautiful wooden shelves as you enter the venue and we knew we wanted to do something special with this space,” Gabriela said. “We decorated the shelves with pictures of our families as well as our favorites books and Playbills from some of our favorite shows we’ve seen together throughout the years. Bartenders 4 You provided two champagne walls set up on each side of the sweetheart table. These were a huge hit with our guests and provided the perfect photo-op location!
We also had late night street tacos from Got It Covered Events which we got so many compliments on.”

Choosing the Vendors

“Our day of coordinator Nikki was an absolute Godsend,” she said. “From the first consultation to the wedding day, she was there to help every step of the way. Nikki made sure we were hydrated, fed, and comfortable the day of our wedding. She not only took care of us, but also made sure our immediate family was taken care of as well. She made sure all of our items were accounted for after the wedding and safely returned to us. Nikki is an excellent coordinator and will make sure your wedding will run as smooth as possible!”

The couple’s photographer Monica was the absolute best, according to Gabriela.

“We got many compliments on how professional Monica and her assistant were at the wedding,” she said. “She is an excellent photographer and will make sure she gets the best shot possible. We had to change up our timeline the day of the wedding to get the best lighting and Monica was so flexible. The team effort and communication between Monica and Nikki really made my wedding day run so smoothly.”

Advice from the Couple

“My advice to couples planning their wedding is to always be flexible. Between our initial wedding plans and the actual wedding day, we had some vendor changes and cancellations happen but everything worked out for the best. Remember your wedding is about starting a life together, so it is okay if some part of your wedding planning does not work out the way you wanted it to. Also remember the only people who know what your wedding is supposed to look like is YOU! Your guests will not notice if small things don’t go according to plan, so don’t stress and soak in every moment of your wedding day, it goes by so fast!”
